Pigs … (in there) (context)

For the first draft of the video, I chose to use the song ‘Pigs … (in there)’ - by Robert Wyatt. I chose this because of : the repetition in the song of the phrase ‘pigs… in there’ ; the association that pigs have with the top of the social hierarchy and capitalism (perhaps due to Orwell’s animal farm); and finally because of the idea that these ‘pigs’ are trapped.

I’m still not 100% sure if I’m going to keep this as the song as the background because I feel like throwing pigs into the equation of ants, humans, mushrooms and cordyceps could get a bit confusing for the viewers. Like realistically what is this topic about, JUST FUCKING PICK ONE THING !!!!!

Anyway, I quite like it because the melody feels quite existential yet comforting at the same time. I guess that’s what my project is about.

I need to ask some opinions on this and make the video even clearer that we are like the ants. I’m thinking that I want a shot of a mushroom growing out of someone’s head, maybe the shadow of a mushroom cast over a city, or a bedroom, or something like that. I also think I need to move the clip of the infected ant more towards the beginning so the point of the video is made more evident sooner.

I also need to consider how I can convey the aspect of culture a bit clearer.

Week 6

Confirm copying
